Important Information - Please Read

Deferring your enrolment on any grounds may affect your student visa, therefore it is strongly advised that you contact the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to find out how these changes will affect your visa before continuing with this application

Your student visa may be cancelled if:

• the deferral is for reasons other than compassionate or compelling circumstances
• the compassionate or compelling circumstances which warranted the deferral of studies cease to exist
• the deferral is based on fraudulent evidence or documents given to Strategix.

Even if Strategix approves your application, The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection may not accept the reasons provided and may proceed to cancel your visa and impose a three year ban on re-application for student visa. It is strongly advised that you contact the Australian Embassy in your home country to check the status of your student visa before attempting to travel back to Australia.

If your request to defer your course is denied you have 20 working days from being notified to appeal the decision, refer to Complaints and Appeals Information Sheet.

Supporting Documentation
You must provide sufficient information and where possible supporting evidence that will allow us to determine how we can support/assist you in this process. Supporting documents/evidence (must be originals or certified copies) such as:

• Medical certificate or supporting documentation from a registered psychologist/medical practitioner
• Death certificate (of family close member)
• Police or psychologist’s report
• Letters from an authentic source (translated) that support the student's reasoning for deferment/suspension
• A copy of their departure ticket.

Important Information

• Applications for deferrals are assessed as per Strategix's Deferral Policy and Procedure
• If you're receiving any study related benefits or payments from the government of another third party, deferring your studies may impact your eligibility for those payments. As this is not within our control, it is strongly advised that you contact the relevant party and seek additional advice before submitting your deferral application.
• Deferral applications are typically for periods of 6 months or less.
